A husband, proving to his wife that women talk more than men, showed her a study which indicated that men use on the average only 15,000 words a day, where as women use 30,000 words a day. She thought about this for a while and then told her husband that women use twice as many words as men because they have to repeat everything they say. He said, “What?” 어떤 남편이 여자가 남자보다 말수가 많다는 걸 증명하려고 자기 부인에게 여자는 하루에 평균 3만 단어를 말하는 반면 남자들은 오직 1만5,000 단어만 말한다는 연구 결과를 보여주었다. 부인은 잠시 생각을 한 뒤에 여자가 남자보다 말을 두 배나 많이 하는 이유는 항상 같은 말을 두 번씩 반복해야 하기 때문이라고 남편에게 설명했다. 그 말을 들은 남편 왈, “뭐라고 했지?”
