When I was young I hated going to weddings. It seemed that all of my aunts and the grandmotherly types used to come up to me, poking me in the ribs and saying, "Mary, you're next." They stopped after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals.
나는 어렸을 때 결혼식에 가는 것을 싫어했다. 이모들과 할머니뻘 되는 사람들이 모두 내게 와서는 옆구리를 찌르며 "메리, 다음은 네 차례야"라고 말하곤 했기 때문이다. 그러나 내가 장례식에 가서 그와 똑 같은 말을 한 뒤부터는 그들은 그렇게 말하는 걸 그만두었다.
