When a country doctor arrived in a remote house to deliver a baby, no one was home except for the laboring mother and her 5-year-old child. There was no electricity, so the doctor instructed the child to hold a lantern high while helping the delivery. The doctor lifted the newborn baby and spanked him on the bottom to get him to take his first breath. “Hit him again,” the 5-year-old said. “He shouldn’t have crawled up there in the first place!”
시골 의사가 아기를 받기 위해 한 외딴 집에 도착했을 때, 그 집에는 산모와 5살짜리 아이 밖에 없었다. 그 집에는 전기가 들어오지 않았기 때문에 의사는 자신이 출산을 돕는 동안 손전등을 들고 있으라고 아이에게 시켰다. 이윽고 갓 태어난 아기가 첫 숨을 쉬도록 의사가 아기를 들어올려 엉덩이를 때리자, 5살짜리 아이가 말했다. “또 때려주세요. 얘가 거기 들어가 있으면 안 되는 거잖아요!”
