On her son’s seventeenth birthday, the mother pleadingly asked, “Promise me you’ll be sure to tell me when you start smoking. Never let me find it out from the neighbors.”
“Don’t worry about that, Mom” the son replied.
“I quit smoking a year ago.”
아들의 열일곱살 생일날 어머니가 간곡히 타일렀다. “만약 담배를 피우게 되면 반드시 내게 알려주기로 약속해야 한다. 이웃사람들이 말해줘서 알게 되는 건 싫어.”
그러자 아들이 대답했다. “엄마, 그건 전혀 걱정하실 것 없어요. 작년에 벌써 담배를 끊었거든요.”
