A Catholic kid was praying as hard as he could. He prayed, "God, I really want a car." Jumping up and dashing to the window, he saw that the driveway was empty. Suddenly the kid ran into his parents' bedroom and grabbed the statuette of the Virgin Mary. He wrapped it up in ten layers of paper, using three rolls of tape, then stuffed it inside a box at the very bottom of his closet. "Okay, God," he said, getting down onto his knees again, "If you ever want to see your mother again…"
꼬마 가톨릭 신자가 아주 열심히 기도를 하고 있었다. 꼬마는 "주님, 차를 정말 갖고 싶어요"라고 기도했다. 펄쩍 일어나 창가로 달려가봤지만 차도는 텅 비어 있었다. 꼬마는 갑자기 부모님 침실로 뛰어들어가 성모상을 움켜쥐었다. 꼬마는 성모상을 종이 열 겹에 테이프 세 뭉치로 꽁꽁 싸맨 다음 상자에 담아 옷장 바닥으로 밀어 넣었다. "좋아요, 주님,"꼬마가 무릎을 다시 꿇으며 말했다. "엄마를 다시 보고 싶으시다면…"
