A doctor and a lawyer were talking at a party.
Their conversation was constantly interrupted by people asking the doctor for free medical advice.
After an hour of this, the exasperated doctor asked the lawyer, "What do you do to stop people from asking you for legal advice when you're out of the office?"
" I should give it to them ," replied the lawyer, "and then I send them a bill."
The doctor was shocked, but agreed to give it a try.
The next day, still feeling slightly guilty, the doctor prepared the bills.
When he went to place them in his mailbox, he found a bill from the lawyer.
의사와 변호사가 파티에서 만나 이야기를 나누고 있었다. 그러나 의학적 조언을 공짜로 받으려는 사람들의 질문공세에 그들의 대화는 번번히 끊겼다.
한 시간쯤 지나 화가 잔뜩 난 의사가 변호사에게 물었다. "업무 시간이 끝났는데도 법적 조언을 받으려고 귀찮게 한다면 어떻게 하나요?"
변호사의 대답은 이랬다. "당연히 질문에 응하죠. 그때마다 청구서를 보내지만요"
의사는 놀라긴 했지만 변호사의 조언대로 해 보기로 했다. 다음날 의사는 약간은 미안한 느낌을 가진 채 여러 장의 청구서를 준비했다. 우편함에 청구서를 넣으려는 순간 그가 본 것은 변호사가 자신에게 보낸 청구서였다.
