A motorist driving by a Texas ranch hit and killed a calf that was crossing the road. The driver went to the owner of the calf and explained what had happened. He then asked what the animal was worth.
"Oh, about $200 today," said the rancher. "But in six years it would have been worth $900. So $900 is what I'm out."
The motorist sat down and wrote out a check and handed it to the farmer.
"Here," he said, "is the check for $900. It's postdated six years from now…."
한 운전자가 텍사스 목장 주변 길을 지나다 송아지 한 마리를 치어 죽였다. 운전자는 송아지 주인을 찾아가 자초지종을 설명하고 송아지 값이 얼마나 되는지 물었다.
"아, 오늘은 200달러인데요."주인이 말했다. "6년 뒤면 몸값이 900달러까지 오를 테니 900달러를 받아야겠습니다."
운전자는 그 자리에 앉아 수표를 쓴 뒤 주인에게 건네며 말했다.
"900달러 수표 여기 있습니다. 6년 뒤 결제 가능한 사후입금 수표예요…."
