Two college students, Frank and Matt, are riding on a New York City subway when a beggar approaches them asking for spare change. Frank adamantly rejects the man in disgust. Matt, on the other hand, whips out his wallet, pulls out couples of singles and gladly hands them over to the beggar with a smile.
The beggar thanks him and then continues on to the other passengers.
Frank is outraged by his friend's act of generosity. "What on earth did you do that for?"shouts Frank. "You know he's only going to use it on drugs or booze."
Matt replies, "And we weren't?"
대학생인 프랭크와 매트가 뉴욕에서 지하철을 탔는데 거지 한 명이 동전을 달라며 다가왔다. 프랭크는 단호하게 거절했지만 매트는 지갑에서 1달러짜리 지폐 몇 장을 꺼내 미소를 띠며 기꺼이 거지에게 돈을 건넸다. 거지는 고마워하며 다른 승객에게로 갔다.
화가 난 프랭크가 소리쳤다. "왜 그랬어? 저사람은 어차피 저 돈으로 약이나 술을 살 거라는 것을 알잖아." 매트가 답했다. "우리는 안 그래?"
