There were two guys working for the city. One would dig a hole. The other would come behind him and fill the hole. These two men worked furiously. A man was watching from the sidewalk and couldn't believe how hard these men were working, but couldn't understand what they were doing. Finally he had to ask them. He said to the hole digger, "What are you doing? You dig a hole and your partner comes behind you and fills it up again!"The hole digger replied, "Oh yeah, must look funny, but the guy who plants the trees is sick today." 시(市)가 고용한 두 남자가 일하고 있었다. 한 명은 구멍을 파고 다른 한 명은 그 구멍을 다시 메우고 있었다. 두 남자는 미친 듯이 일했다. 길가에서 그 모습을 지켜보던 한 남자가 그들이 그토록 열심히 일하는 모습에 놀라면서도 그들이 도대체 무슨 일을 하는 지 납득할 수 없어 그들에게 물었다. "대체 무슨 일을 하시는 건가요? 당신이 판 구멍을 동료분이 다시 메우고 있잖아요!"그러자 구멍을 파던 남자가 말했다."아, 좀 웃기죠? 오늘 나무 심는 남자가 아파서 안 나왔거든요."
