There once was pirate captain who, whenever it looked like a battle, would change into a red shirt. After observing this behavior for a few months, one of the crew members asked him what it meant.
"It's in case I get shot. I don't want you crew members to see blood and freak out."
"That's very sensible, sir."
At that moment, the crew member spotted eight hostile ships on the horizon. The captain all of a sudden looked very concerned and trembled.
"Get my water-proof pants."
옛날 한 해적선의 선장은 급박한 상황이 벌어질 때마다 빨간 셔츠로 갈아입었다. 몇 개월동안 이런 행동을 지켜본 해적 한명이 그것이 무슨 의미냐고 선장에게 물어봤다.
"이건 내가 총에 맞았을 때를 대비하는 거야. 나는 선원들이 피를 보고 공포에 질리는 것을 원하지 않아."
"선장님, 그거 참 현명하십니다."
바로 그때 한 선원이 8대의 적함이 나타났다고 알려왔다. 그러자 선장은 갑자기 아주 걱정스러운 표정이 되더니 몸을 부르르 떨면서 말했다.
"내 방수 바지 가져와."
