At one point during a game, the coach said to one of his young players, "Do you understand what cooperation is? What a team is?" The little boy nodded in the affirmative. "Do you understand that what matters is whether we win together as a team?" The little boy nodded yes. "So," the coach continued, "when a strike is called, or you're out at first, you don't argue or curse. Do you understand all that?" Again the little boy nodded. "Good," said the coach. "정말 어떤 상황이건 중요한 건 우리가 팀으로 함께 이기는 것이라는 걸 알고 있나?" 소년들인 재차 그렇다고 답했다. "그렇다면", 감독이 말을 이었다. "스트라이크를 당하고, 제군들이 가장 먼저 아웃이 되도 항의하지 않을 수 있나?" 소년들이 다시 고개를 끄덕였다. "좋아", 감독이 답했다. "자 이제 저쪽으로 가서 엄마들에게 이를 설명해라."
