A Jewish man and a Chinese man were conversing. The Jewish man commented upon what a wise people the Chinese are.
"Yes," replied the Chinese man, "Our culture is over 4,000 years old. But, you Jews are very wise people, too."
The Jewish man replied, "Yes, our culture is over 5,000 years old."
The Chinese man was incredulous, "That's impossible," he replied. "Where did your people eat for a thousand years?"
유대인과 중국인이 대화를 나누고 있었다. 유대인은 중국인이 얼마나 지혜로운 사람들인지에 대해 얘기했다.
중국인이 말했다. "그렇습니다. 중국 문화는 4,000년이 넘었어요. 하지만 당신네 유대인도 매우 지혜로운 민족이죠."
"네, 저희 문화는 5,000년이 넘었죠." 유대인이 답했다.
그러자 중국인이 의심스럽다는 듯 말했다. "그건 불가능합니다. 그럼 1,000년 동안 당신들은 어디서 먹었죠?"
