For weeks a six-year old lad kept telling his first-grade teacher about the baby brother or sister that was expected at his house. One day the mother allowed the boy to feel the movements of the unborn child. The six-year old was obviously impressed, but made no comment. Furthermore, he stopped telling his teacher about the impending event.The teacher finally sat the boy on her lap and said, "Tommy, whatever has become of that baby brother or sister you were expecting at home?" Tommy burst into tears and confessed, "I think Mommy ate it!" 6살짜리 소년이 수주일째 담임 선생님에게 남동생이나 여동생이 집에 올 거라고 되풀이해서 말하고 있었다. 그러던 어느 날, 엄마가 소년에게 뱃속 아기의 움직임을 느껴볼 수 있도록 해줬다. 6살짜리 소년은 움직임을 생생히 느꼈다. 하지만 소년은 그 이후 아무런 말도 하지 않았다. 선생님에게도 곧 일어날 이벤트에 대해 더 이상 이야기하지 않았다. 결국 선생님이 소년을 불러 무릎에 앉혀 놓고 물었다. "토미, 네가 기다리던 남동생이나 여동생이 집에 왔니?"토미는 울음을 터뜨리며 말을 꺼냈다. "아무래도 엄마가 아기를 잡아먹은 것 같아요."
