A minister told his congregation, "Next week I plan to preach about the sin of lying. To help you understand my sermon, I want you all to read Mark 17." The following Sunday, the minister asked for a show of hands. He wanted to know how many had read Mark 17. Every hand went up. The minister said, "Mark has only sixteen chapters. I will now proceed with my sermon on the sin of lying."

이해를 돕기 위해 모두들 마가복음 17장을 읽어오시기 바랍니다." 다음주 일요일 목사님이 신도들에게 손을 들도록 했다. 얼마나 많은 사람들이 마가복음 17장을 읽었는지 알고 싶었던 것이다. 모두가 손을 들었다. 목사님이 하는 말, "마가복음에는 16장까지만 있습니다. 자, 이제 거짓말이라는 죄에 대해 설교하겠습니다."
