My seatmate on a flight across the Atlantic was a middle-aged plump woman. As soon as the meal was served， I noticed that she heavily salted and peppered her dessert―luscious-looking piece of chocolate cake. The flight attendant， somewhat taken aback， explained that it wasn't necessary to do this. "Oh， but it is，" the woman replied， smiling. "It keeps me from eating it." 대서양을 횡단하는 여객기에서 내 옆자리에 중년의 뚱뚱한 여자가 앉았다. 기내식이 나오자마자 그 여자는 달콤해 보이는 초콜릿 케이크에 소금과 후추를 마구 뿌려댔다. 사뭇 놀란 승무원이 그럴 필요가 없다고 설명하자 여자는 웃으며 답했다. "아뇨 이렇게 해야 해요. 그래야 안 먹게 되거든요."
