Our minister had all of his remaining teeth pulled and new dentures a few weeks ago. The first Sunday, his sermon lasted 10 minutes. The second Sunday, he preached only 20 minutes. But on the Sunday, he preached for an hour and a half. I asked him about this. “Well” he explained, “that first Sunday, my gums were so sore it hurt to talk. The second Sunday, my dentures were still hurting a lot. Not the third Sunday, I accidentally grabbed my wife's dentures and I couldn’t stop talking!” 우리 목사님이 몇 주전 남은 치아를 몽땅 뽑고 틀니를 새로 했다. 그리고 돌아온 첫 주일 설교는 10분 동안 진행됐다. 두 번째 주일 설교는 20분 동안 진행됐다. 그런데 세 번째 주일의 설교는 무려 한시간 반이나 계속됐다. 나는 목사님에게 그 이유를 물었다. 그의 설명은 다음과 같았다. “첫 번째 일요일에는 틀니 때문에 잇몸이 아파서 말을 할 수 없었어요. 두 번째 일요일에도 틀니는 여전히 많이 아팠답니다. 그런데 세 번째 일요일은 그렇지 않았어요. 실수로 아내의 틀니를 끼고 왔더니 말이 쉴새 없이 나오더군요”
