A man arrives at a picture theatre late, the movie that has already started. As his eyes adjust to the darkness, he is surprised to see a dog sitting beside its master, intently watching the movie. It even seemed to be enjoying the movie: wagging its tail in the happy bits, drooping its ears at the sad bits, and hiding its eyes with its paws at the scary bits. After the movie, the man approaches the dog's owner, "Gees mate, your dog really seemed to enjoy the movie. I'm amazed!" "Yes, I'm amazed also," came the reply. "He hated the book." 남자가 영화관에 조금 늦게 들어왔다. 영화는 이미 시작한 상태였다. 자리를 찾느라 어둠속 초점이 밝아진 그는 주인 옆에 앉아 영화에 열중하고 있는 개 한마리를 보았다. 그 개는 정말로 영화에 빠진 듯 행복한 장면이 나오면 꼬리를 흔들고, 슬픈 장면에서는 두 귀를 축 내리는 가하면 무서운 부분에서는 앞다리로 눈을 가리기까지 했다. 영화가 끝난 후 남자는 개 주인에게 다가가 "우와~ 강아지가 진짜 영화를 열심히 보더군요. 신기하네요." 그러자 주인 왈, "네, 저도 신기했어요. 책으로 읽었을때는 줄거리를 싫어하더니."
