An artist asked the gallery owner if there had been any interest in his paintings on display at that time.
"I have good news and bad news," the owner replied.
"The good news is that a gentleman inquired about your work and wondered if it would appreciate in value after your death. When I told him it would, he bought all 15 of your paintings."
"That's wonderful," the artist exclaimed. "What's the bad news?"
"The guy was your doctor."
한 미술가가 갤러리 주인에게 자기 그림에 관심을 보인 사람이 있는지 물었다.
"좋은 소식과 안 좋은 소식이 있어요." 주인이 말했다.
"좋은 소식은 어떤 신사 한 분이 당신 사후에 작품 가치가 오를지 물었다는 겁니다. 내가 그럴 것 같다고 하자, 당신 그림 15점을 모두 사갔어요."
"그거 잘됐군요." 미술가가 기뻐하며 말했다. "나쁜 소식은 뭐죠?"
"그 사람은 당신 주치의였어요."
