새옹지마 The new office computer system was down as much as it was working. Mary decided to stay late to catch up on the work that had accumulated. On her way home，a police officer stopped her for speeding. "What a perfect end to an awful day！" she exclaimed. "Our computer is up，then down－－up，then down. I stay late to catch up，and now this！" The officer was unaffected by Mary's griping，and he went to his car to prepare a citation. After what seemed an eternity，he returned with her license. As he handed them to her，he smiled and said，"My computer is down." 사무실 새 컴퓨터 시스템은 작동하는 만큼이나 다운되기 일쑤엿다. 메리는 해야 할 일이 쌓여서 늦게 퇴근하기로 결심했다. 집으로 가는 도중, 경찰은 과속했다며 그녀의 차를 세웠다. “완전히 재수가 옴 붙은 날이네!” 메리는 울화통을 터뜨렸다. “사무실 컴퓨터가 되다 안되다 하는 바람에 밀린 일 처리하느라 이렇게 늦었는데 결국 이런 꼴을 당하게 되네요!” 경관은 메리의 불평을 한 귀로 흘러들으며 딱지를 떼기 위해 그의 차로 갔다. 한참이 지났나 싶더니 그는 그녀의 면허증을 가지고 돌아왔다. 그는 면허증을 그녀에게 건네주더니 말했다. “내 컴퓨터가 다운됐네요.”
