A British doctor, a German doctor and an American doctor were chatting. The British doctor said, “Medicine in my country is so advanced that we can take a kidney out of one man put it in another and have him looking for work in six weeks.” Then the German doctor bragged, “That’s nothing, we can take a lung out of one person, put it in another and have him looking for work in four weeks.” The American doctor, not to be outdone, says, “You guys are way behind. We took a man with no brain out of Texas, put him in the White House, and almost immediately afterwards half the country was looking for work.” 영국ㆍ독일ㆍ미국의 의사들이 모여 잡담을 나눴다. 영국 의사가 말했다. “우리가 개발한 약을 처방하면서 신장을 이식했더니, 그가 6주안에 일자리를 찾아가더군.” 그러자 독일 의사 말했다. “그건 아무것도 아니야. 우리 의술로 폐를 이식했더니 환자가 4주안에 일을 찾더라고.” 미국인 의사가 별거 아니라는 듯이 말했다. “수준이 한참 뒤떨어져 있군. 우리는 텍사스의 무뇌인을 백악관에 보냈더니, 국민의 절반이 일자리를 찾아 헤메더라니까.”
