A man had been crossing a street when a car slammed into him. The pedestrian sued the motorist, whose lawyer made the following statement at the end of the trial. "Your honor, my client was not at fault. He has been driving a car for thirty years, and has never had an accident, nor gotten so much as a speeding ticket. I do not think I need to say any more."Unimpressed, the lawyer for the plaintiff rose. "Your honor, since counsel insists on bringing up the matter of experience, may I remind the court that my client has been walking for over seventy years…" 한 남자가 길을 건너다 자동차에 치였다. 보행자는 운전자를 고소했고, 운전자의 변호사는 법정에서 마지막으로 이런 진술을 했다. "재판장님, 제 의뢰인은 잘못이 없습니다. 30년 동안 운전을 했지만 사고를 낸 적이 없는 사람입니다. 심지어 과속 위반 딱지를 뗀 적도 없습니다. 더 이상 말씀드릴 필요는 없다고 생각합니다." 그러자 보행자 측 변호사는 별 감흥이 없다는 듯이 일어나 말했다. "재판장님, 피고측 변호인이 경험 얘기를 하니까 드리는 말씀인데, 제 의뢰인은 70년 동안 걸어 다녔다는 걸 법정에서 굳이 말씀드려야 할까요…"
