Two cowboys come upon an Indian lying on his stomach with his ear to the ground. One of the cowboys says to the other, "He's listening to the ground. He can hear things for miles." Just then the Indian looks up. "Covered wagon, about two miles away. Have two horses, Man, woman, child, household effects in wagon."
"This Indian knows how far away they are, how many horses, what color they are, who is in the wagon, and what is in the wagon. Amazing!"The Indian looks up and says, "Ran over me about a half hour ago."
두 명의 카우보이가 배를 깔고 누워 땅에 귀를 대고 있는 인디언에게로 다가간다. 카우보이 중 한 명이 말한다. "땅에 귀를 기울이고 있네. 멀리서 들려오는 소리를 들을 수 있나봐." 그때 인디언이 올려다 보며 말한다. "천막으로 덮힌 마차, 2마일. 말 두 마리. 마차에는 남자, 여자, 아이, 가재도구들."
"이 인디언은 얼마나 멀리 떨어져 있는 지, 말이 몇마리인지, 마차에 누가 탔는지, 무엇이 실려있는지도 아나봐. 놀라워!"그러자 인디언이 올려다보며 말한다. "30분 전에 내 위로 지나갔다고!"
